How can I find out if the City of Cordele is currently hiring?                   
Job openings are posted in the local newspaper, "The Cordele Dispatch", with the local Dept of Labor office and on the announcement board at City Hall. We will also post openings on the "Current Job Openings" page of this website.

How can I get an application for employment with the City of Cordele? 
You can go to City Hall and request an application or you may download it by clicking on the tab at the top left entitled "Employment Application Packet"     
   

How are applications accepted?  
Application packets can be mailed to City of Cordele, Attn: Human Resources, P.O. Box 569, Cordele GA 31010.  Walk-ins may apply at Cordele City Hall, Room 246, 501 7th St., North, Cordele GA 31015.  


Do you accept resumes in lieu of applications?   
We do not accept resumes in lieu of applications; however, we encourage you to submit a resume along with your complete application packet.  


Will you accept an incomplete application packet?
   
An incomplete application packet or misleading information may disqualify you from consideration at any time during the selection process.  Fill out and return the entire application packet including names of supervisors, telephone numbers, addresses, duties, etc.  A notation of “See Resume” or See Attached” is not acceptable.  


Do I need to submit a separate application for each position I am interested in?                                                             
Yes.  You will need to submit an application for each position.   


May I submit an application after the closing date on the job announcement? 
                              
​Only applications received by the closing date will be considered for the opening.    


How long are application packets active? 
          
Application packets will remain active for a period of 45 days.  After the 45 day period you must complete a new application packet.   


​Do you require a physical and drug screen? 
      
Successful completion of a post-offer, job related, medical examination and drug screening will be required of every finalist for employment.


What are your employment eligibility standards?
  
Please refer to the job description for exact eligibility standards.     


Do I have to provide documentation of employment eligibility?
   
Yes.  You should provide documentation of employment eligibility and all minimum job requirements such as driver’s license, high school diploma, P.O.S.T. certification, certificates of training, etc. at the time of application.   


Do you accept applications to be placed on file for future vacancies?
      
Applications are only accepted for current advertised vacancies.  


Will you conduct a background check?
   
Part of the employment process is an investigation and verification of the information that you provided.

Your current employer will be contacted unless you specify otherwise on the application.   


Will you hire someone convicted of a misdemeanor or felony? 
  
A criminal record does not constitute an automatic bar from employment and will be considered only as it relates to the job in question.   


Is my personal information kept confidential?
    
Applicants are entitled to the security and confidentiality of their personal and professional background and data.  Any decision to make that data available to others must be at the specific request, or with approval, of the applicant.

What are your working hours? 
     
The typical workday is 8:00am until 5:00pm Monday thru Friday.  However some jobs, such as Police and Fire, require shift work which will include nights, weekends and holidays.
