Currently, the City of Cordele reminds our citizens that water restrictions are in place.  Outdoor watering of lawns with automatic sprinkler systems is only allowed between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 10:00 A.M.  Residents can also adjust your outside sprinklers so they direct water to the lawn only and not the sidewalk, driveway, roadway or structure.  Other simple, easy to adopt water conservation methods are to check for and repair any water leaks inside or outside your home, shorten shower time, turn off the tap while brushing teeth or shaving and run your dishwashers and clothes washers only when they are filled to capacity.
Debbie Wright, Utilities, Control and Treatment Director said "Conserving water is critical during drought conditions such as these.  Your consideration and cooperation are greatly needed and appreciated."

Drought conditions across Georgia have caused state officials to place the entire State of Georgia, including Cordele & Crisp County under a Level 1 drought response designation, calling for mandatory conservation measures and public awareness campaigns in the City of Cordele.  This is a state-wide response and includes Cordele and all of Crisp County.
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) declared Level 1 drought status after determining that most of Georgia is experiencing severe to extreme drought conditions during a recent statewide conference call with public water systems to discuss water supply.  Under Level 1 designation, public water utilities are required to launch public awareness messaging to educate residents about the effects of drought, it's impact on water supplies and the importance of water conservation.
